Begin your speech with a brief introduction about yourself. Say something like “Good evening, friends, relatives, and guests! I know that a lot of you may be wondering who I am, and so for your benefit, please allow me to introduce myself. I am, for those of you who do not know me, the bride’s very proud little/older sister. Because of that trivial detail, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to you to know that I am the bride’s maid of honor as well.”
“Given that privilege, I stand here in front of all of you to welcome you in this celebration and to thank you for generously finding the time to be here. Forgive me, though, for this speech which I must honestly say I haven’t prepared for that much. Anyway, once again, welcome and thank you. Thank you for sharing this day with the bride and the groom. Some of you, I know, may have travelled a long way just to be here, and for that we truly appreciate you.”
